Almost a quarter of the Ukrainian market of household appliances and electronics (UAH 20.5 billion) is "grey import", most often smartphones and TV sets are imported in this way.

Smartphones and TV sets account for almost 60% of all "grey imports" to Ukraine in 2019, and the total amount of such shipments exceeded the mark of 20 billion UAH. This was told by the Head of the B2B and Strategic Research Department at GfK Tetyana Sytnik during an online press conference, the RetailersUA newspaper reported.

Grey importation" refers to goods that enter the country without appropriate customs procedures, that is, without paying customs duty and import VAT.

The total volume of illegal imports in Ukraine in 2019 amounted to $792 million (20.5 billion UAH) or 23% of the sales volume of the entire market. Most often smartphones and TV sets are imported to Ukraine under "gray schemes" - 29% for each category. If we measure in money, last year smartphones were imported illegally for $328 million (8.492 billion UAH), and TVs - for $125 million (3.2 billion UAH). The rest of the illegal imports fall into such categories as refrigerators, small household appliances, laptops, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, etc.

TI introduced "tax holidays" for the period of quarantine: inspections are cancelled, deadlines for filing declarations are postponed, ERUs for FLP are cancelled for 2 months.

Together with the draft law No. 3219 "On Introducing Communications to Legislative Acts of Ukraine, At an extraordinary session on March 17, the Verkhovna Rada also voted for the draft law ¹ 3220 "On Introducing Communications to the Tax Code of Ukraine and other laws of Ukraine in order to increase the number of tax payments for the period of visits, "and widening of the coronary artwork (COVID-19). He was supported by 359 people's deputies.

The bill provides for some tax breaks (so-called "tax holidays") during quarantine caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Recall that it is valid in the country until at least April 3, 2020.

At the same time, there is a rule in the document that if a borrower fails to pay the loan from March 1, 2020 to April 30, 2020, he is not responsible to the creditor.

YouTube will use more AI to check content (while employees are quarantined)

The YouTube service will rely more on machine training and less on human reviewers during the coronavirus outbreak. Usually algorithms detect potentially dangerous content and send it to reviewers for evaluation. But now that many countries are imposing different restrictions due to coronavirus outbreaks, companies are trying to reduce the need for employees and contractors to come to the office. Therefore, in order to reduce the burden on human reviewers, YouTube will allow its automated system to remove some content without human review.

At the same time, the administration of the service recognizes that this step may lead to an increase in the number of remote videos, including some videos that do not violate the rules. YouTube will not impose strikes on content, unless it clearly violates the rules, and content creators can appeal against the removal of videos. However, YouTube is cautioned that "our staff safety precautions will also result in delays in reviewing appeals. And these delays could become more common in the coming weeks. Earlier Google informed developers that consideration of applications in the Play Store may also be delayed.

France fined Apple a record 1.1 billion.

The French competition authority has fined Apple 1.1 billion for violating the competition law. According to Reuters, the U.S. company was in collusion with two wholesale distributors - Tech Data and Ingram Micro, which agreed not to compete with each other and to prevent competition among other distributors. They will also pay fines of 76.1 million and 62.9 million euros respectively. The French agency initiated an investigation in 2012 following a complaint from an eBizcuss reseller shortly before its bankruptcy. The authorities claim that the fine is the largest one for the French regulator.

Not only did Apple and its two wholesalers agree not to compete with each other, they also deprived their intermediaries of the opportunity to reduce prices for Apple products. In addition, Apple has been accused of unfairly treating the resellers, often limiting their supply. The agency's report says that all of these methods mainly concerned iPad tablets.

Apple, in its statement, called the French regulator's decision "disappointing" and added that "it refers to practices that existed more than ten years ago. According to Cupertin's giant, this precedent will affect other companies and lead to chaos in all industries. Apple said it planned to appeal the decision of the French antitrust agency.

Other countries also complain that Apple controls the market for its products. In August last year the company concluded a deal with Amazon, which prevented retailers from reselling Apple products at the site. The FTC is already doing this.

Tesla is expanding its factory in Shanghai, presumably to produce Model Y

Tesla seems to have made significant progress in expanding its new factory in Shanghai. Judging from recent construction site shots, the first support for Phase 2 was installed last weekend. This suggests that the construction of the new site may accelerate significantly in the coming months.

It is noteworthy that the first support for Phase 2 was installed only two days before the anniversary of the first support for Phase 1. Tesla fans, who had been following the construction of Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai from the start, will remember that it has accelerated significantly since the first support was installed on 17 March 2019. Little is known about Phase 2, but Jason Young, who has been following the construction of Gigafactory 3 since January 2019, noticed in the video that the area for the new building seems larger than that of Phase 1, where the Model 3 is being built.

Most likely, the new site can be used to produce the Model Y crossover or, for example, the Solarglass Roof with solar panels. Both guesses seem quite real, given that the Model Y program in China was announced by Ilon Mask in January last year, and in February this year he announced plans to bring the Solarglass Roof to the Chinese market.

Although the effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak are still being felt in China, the groundbreaking work for Phase 2 will be completed this month. It has also been suggested that the frame of the building is likely to be built in June and that trial production of Model Y (or solar panel roofs) will start in October.

AMD has fixed the problem with installing the Ryzen Chipset Driver

Last month AMD released a new chipset driver, but unfortunately its installation was hanging. Now the company released another version of the chipset driver Ryzen, which should solve problems with installation. Not all users had a problem with the failed installer. In many cases the driver installation was normally done in the background.

The new driver version has fixed a number of other problems as well. For example, it was previously impossible to install the driver on a drive if the installation path was different than C:. Also, problems with screen rotation on devices with some AMD mobile processors and system shutdown on AMD A-Series 7th generation APUs were resolved.

Other improvements include removing several outdated device IDs from IOV and USB 3.0 drivers. System stability has also been improved.

The AMD Ryzen Chipset Driver is compatible with AMD's chipsets from A320 series to X570 on the main platform as well as Threadripper A399 and TRX40. Download the new driver version at the following address.

IKEA now also in Ukraine - on a site already it is possible to order the goods with address delivery across all country

Last week we learned that IKEA is about to launch online sales in Ukraine. And today it happened (yes, it did!) - IKEA started to sell goods through the official website with targeted delivery in Ukraine.

Already now there are almost 3600 items in the catalog in different categories: furniture, household and kitchen utensils, items for decoration, lighting and many others.

At the moment, there are two items open for receiving orders in Kiev:

Auchan Rive Gauche

Metro Cash & Carry

In addition, targeted delivery of goods throughout Ukraine is possible.

"We are pleased to start work in Ukraine by launching an online store, especially at a time when each of us pays attention to the safety and comfort of staying at home. We hope that our wide range of products and solutions for home will help Ukrainians to arrange their personal space and improve their daily lives.

Florian Mello, Head of IKEA in Ukraine.

After the launch of the online shop IKEA plans to open its shop in a new city store in Kiev. Recently the management of the furniture giant signed a lease agreement with Blockbuster Mall. The date of opening of the first store in Kiev is not yet announced.

The Boring Company has completed tunneling in Las Vegas. This is the first commercial project of the Ilona Mask Drilling Company.

Last May The Boring Company Ilona Muska was awarded a contract to build the LVCC Loop, a high-speed underground system for transporting people in Las Vegas. The first tunnel was completed last month, and now the company has announced that the second tunnel is ready. Once in operation, the system will be the first commercial project of The Boring Company.

The Boring Company was founded in 2016 to implement the futuristic idea of an extensive network of underground tunnels to move traffic and passengers to solve the problem of traffic jams in densely populated metropolitan areas. This idea came to Mask's mind when he himself got stuck in traffic jams. As we have repeatedly written, The Boring Company, thanks to the use of more modern technologies, expects to significantly reduce the time of underground tunneling, while reducing the cost of this kind of work. We told about all this in detail in the article "The Boring Company Ilona Mask: Underground tunnels against traffic jams".

If you remember, at the end of 2018 The Boring Company opened a test tunnel near Los Angeles and at the same time held a demonstration with moving through it Tesla Model X with special retractable wheels (then called the price of $200-$300) to stabilize the position of the machine throughout the journey through the tunnel on its own.

The customer for the LVCC Loop is the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCVA), which hosts the annual CES Consumer Electronics Show along with other major events. And this, as mentioned above, is the first commercial order for The Boring Company. Now the LVCVA complex is expanding, after completion the total area of all LVCVA buildings will increase to 200 acres (0.8 km2), and people will have to travel 3.2 km between the different ends of the complex. The Boring Company's transportation system will enable people to move quickly between the two ends of the huge exhibition complex by connecting individual parts of the exhibition complex through two tunnels to three stations. The own subway will cost LVCVA $52.5 million, although initially the forecast was slightly lower than $48.7 million.

It took The Boring Company three months to build the first mile-long tunnel at a 12-metre depth and about the same time to build a second parallel tunnel.

As LVCVA president Steve Hill told The Verge, the tunnels will carry passengers in Model X and Model 3 cars, as well as "trams" on the Model 3 platform with a capacity of 12-16 people. At first, the driver will be driving, but in the end, the system will be completely self-contained - a kind of contact rail will be laid through the tunnel, which will move the cars, and placed sensors to track their movement on a map in real time. Alas, the exact timing of full line automation is not yet known.

Now that the tunnels have been dug, The Boring Company will take care of their equipment and planting (two surface exits at the ends of the tunnels and an underground station in the middle of the route).

All construction work should be completed by the end of the year, and the official launch is scheduled for January 2021, before the CES 2021 exhibition. So far, the COVID-19 pandemic has not affected the project in any way. At the same time, LVCVA's president allows the possibility of postponing the launch if CES 2021 has to be postponed or cancelled as a result.

At the end of last year, Musk promised that immediately after LVCVA, The Boring Company will take up other projects. We can recall that The Boring Company previously planned to build two more high-speed subways Loop - in Los Angeles and Chicago. The first one is to connect East Hollywood (a densely populated neighborhood in central Los Angeles) to the Dodger Stadium, and the second is to connect downtown Chicago and O'Hare International Airport. But the construction of the Loop subway in Los Angeles never began, and Chicago has seen a change of power and a new mayor who doesn't seem too interested in the project. The Boring Company also negotiated the construction of a branch between New York and Washington, but that project got stuck in the environmental impact assessment phase. And although recently everyone has somehow forgotten about Hyperloop, it was previously said that these projects of modern high-speed submarines Loop are a transition technology to the very futuristic high-speed "vacuum trains".
